Silat Jutsu system is based on the traditional system of Pencak Silat Seni Bela Diri but is a flexible system focused mainly on self-defence techniques and sport competition.
Silat or Pencak Silat is not only a complete martial art system, it is also a system of discipline that helps develop the person’s personality of respect for parents, elders and teachers and builds the sense of teamwork and cooperation with others. Pencak Silat is divided into 4 main branches: (1) the Mental or Spiritual aspect and practices. (2) "Seni" which is the artistic or cultural aspect. (3) "Bela Diri" which is the self-defence aspect and (4) "Olahraga" which is the sporting aspect. As a martial art, Silat is more of a hybrid system like Hapkido and Shorinji Kempo which has all the different aspects of martial arts including but not limited to: Forms, breathing techniques, punches, strikes, blocks, different hand formations, kicks, grappling, throws, sparring, falling, rolling, joint locks, self-defense against all forms of attacks…etc., This Southeast Asian martial art is also based on animal movements like Kung Fu and other similar martial arts. It is the main martial arts in Nusantara countries which are Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and South Thailand.Silat functions based on three fundamental things: Technique, Energy and Balance.
Jutsu means technique, skill of fighting, self-defence, unarmed fighting and physical health. It is a Japanese term but it has become commonly used for different martial arts.
